In the case of early neighborhoods which were dominant like Dilworth or Brooklyn, there may be some information in the newspapers. In a few cases, there might even be an ad when the neighborhood was established. The Charlotte Observer is available electronically from 1892-1922 through Readex America's Historical Newspapers. The Charlotte Observer isn't available again electronically until 1985 when it is available through NewsBank. Atkins Library does have the microfilm for the other years and it's located on the second floor of the library.
