The University Archives consist of the non-current, permanently valuable, official records of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte including the records of its predecessor institutions: the Charlotte Center of the University of North Carolina and Charlotte College. These early records provide a detailed and comprehensive documentation of the establishment and development college-level education in the Charlotte region, 1946-1965.
In addition to records related to its predecessors, UNC Charlotte is fortunate to have in its Archives an extensive body of records that document its growth since 1965. The administrative records of the chancellors and vice-chancellors, along with the minutes of the board of trustees, provide material for a comprehensive account of the university's academic and corporate development.
Records of the colleges as well as faculty and student organizations supplement the administrative history of the university.
Several University publications have been digitized by the DigitalNC Project. These publications include college and university catalogs (1947-2009), Charlotte Center and Charlotte College student newspapers (1947-1965), and yearbooks (1950-1985).
