What are databases?

A database is any organized searchable collection of information that is made up of related records. In libraries, a database usually means an online organized searchable collection of related publication records – citations, abstracts, and full-text articles.

  • Abstract databases (citations and abstracts)
  • Full-text databases (full-text articles)
  • Full-image databases (full-text articles and images (photos, charts, tables, etc.) in HTML and/or PDF formats.
