Getting Assistance

undefined

There are multiple spots you can go to for assistance while at Atkins Library:

  • The Information and Research Desk on the 1st floor is your starting point for all kinds of help in the library. You can check out and return materials including books, laptops, Interlibrary Loan items, and Course Reserves. At this desk, you can also get help from fellow students on how to print and to borrow laptops. Head to the right-hand side of the desk to speak with a librarian about all stages of the research process and your research assignments.

  • The Special Collections & University Archives (SCUA) Dalton Reading Room on the 10th floor is where you can get reference assistance or learn more about how to use our rare and unique collections, many of which are related to the history of our campus and the City of Charlotte.

  • The Area 49 Desk on the 2nd floor is where you can get access to all of the library’s technology spaces, including the Makerspace, Gaming Lab, Visualization Lab, EZ Video Studio, Teaching & Technology Theater, and Multimedia Lab. At this desk, you can also borrow equipment for your creative projects, such as photo, video, and audio equipment and circuitry kits.

  • The Architecture Library Desk in the Storrs Building is where you can learn more about print and digital resources related to 20th & 21st century design, architects, and the built environment, You can also get help with printing, scanning, and other tools, and check out equipment - some of which is available exclusively for faculty, students, or staff in the College of Arts and Architecture.

Reserving a Study Room

While there are many spots to study in the library, sometimes it can be nice to have a private room to focus on your research or work on a group project. Use Atkins Library's Study Room Reservation System to find and reserve the right study room for you.
