Using ORCID Research Identifiers

A guide to understanding ORCID research identifiers and how to use them to create unified access to your research.

Maximizing your ORCID profile

ORCIDs enable you to create centralized access to all of your research. Maximize this by:

  • Providing your ORCID when submitting manuscripts or applying for grants. Application systems will often ask you for your ORCID. If you provide your ORCID at this stage, once an article is published or funding secured these organizations will often be able to automatically update your ORCID profile with research activity.
  • Sharing your ORCID with others. This could be on your email signature, personal webpage, LinkedIn, and anywhere else you would direct people to find your research.
