The Search Process

Here are the main steps in the search process:

  • Investigate topic (background)
  • Broad to narrow
  • Search keywords of questions
  • Evaluate results, analyze resources
  • Collect full-text/metadata, take notes, re-search
  • Decide why you choose a resource
  • Reflect on process

Citation Managers

Citation managers (or bibliographic managers) are programs that help you collect and organize the metadata of your research to help you easily integrate citations into your work.

These programs all offer the same basic functions.  Whichever you choose is based on personal preference.  However, choose one before you begin your research.
