Students are inundated with an overwhelming amount of information every day, whether they’re reading online content to incorporate into their assignments or scanning the posts and tweets in their social networks. Instructors have a vital role to play in helping prepare students to critically evaluate what they encounter online so that they can be competent researchers as well as informed citizens.
By teaching your students strategies and skills to identify misleading or manipulated information, they will become more proficient and objective in evaluating information and determining what is credible. Media literacy can be incorporated into virtually any class regardless of the subject matter.
