Accessing Charlotte Mecklenburg Public Library

Anyone with an education affiliation who needs a library card will receive a virtual card in their email within minutes of the application. Students, teachers, and staff in need of access to the Library’s online resources and digital downloads during the COVID-19 closures should attempt the online library application first. If there are any problems with the application, they can email onlinereference@cmlibrary.org and include the name of your school or institution. These cards will expire on 8/31/2020.

Kanopy
Kanopy is an award-winning video streaming service providing access to more than 30,000 independent and documentary films ─ titles of unique social and cultural value from The Criterion Collection, The Great Courses, Media Education Foundation, and thousands of independent filmmakers.

Hoopla allows customers to instantly borrow e-books, comics, audiobooks, music, movies and television — with no holds, and no waiting! And there's no need to worry about late fees; hoopla features an automated service that returns your item once your time is up. Content can be streamed to computers, tablets or smartphones, and can be downloaded to mobile devices to allow for offline viewing any time.
OverDrive
OverDrive is a collection of e-books and digital audiobooks offered by the library. E-books and audiobooks can be downloaded to your computer, tablet, (including Kindle), or mobile device. OverDrive e-book titles can be read online using OverDrive Read and audiobooks can be listened to online using OverDrive Listen. Streaming video is also available! Mobile and tablet customers, download the OverDrive app for iOS and Android.
