Maps of Charlotte will often give you some information about when a neighborhood was established. There are maps in Special Collections and on the eighth floor of the tower.
Special Collections has basic street maps of Charlotte (or portions of Charlotte) beginning with 1917. Starting with the 1930s the maps cover the entire city and often neighborhoods are noted.
The Charlotte Engineering Maps Collection (MS 323) will sometimes include an early map of a neighborhood or the streets which were later included in a neighborhood being studied. Maps for the areas Druid Hills and Washington Heights are noted in the Neighborhood Examples tab.
