Everything you need to get started with EndNote.

Enabling Find Full Text Feature

EndNote allows users to find full text articles for the references in their library by enabling Web of Science Full Text Links, DOI, PubMed Linkout, and OpenURL, as long as there is an Internet connection. Users can take advantage of all the four options listed above to get full text articles in EndNote.

Setting Up Find Full Text Feature

  1. Select Edit > "Preferences..." from the top navigation menu. A dialogue box will appear.
  2. Navigate to "Find Full Text".
  3. Place a check mark in each of the selections options listed.
  4. In the OpenURL Path field, enter: https://charlotte.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/openurl/01UNCC_INST/01UNCC_INST:01UNCC_INST
  5. Leave "Authenticate with" blank.

Locating and Adding PDFs to References

After you have set up your preferences, you can locate full text PDFs and add them to your references.

  1. Highlight or select the references for which you want to locate the full text.
  2. Select References > "Find Full Text" > "Find Full Text" from the top navigation menu OR click on the Find Full Text icon, designated by a piece of paper with a magnifying glass.
  3. A search script will appear under "Find Full Text" near the bottom of the left navigation menu.  This indicates the number of PDFs or URLs that EndNote was able to find.
  4. Click on Found PDF or Found URL groups to view the references for which full text files were found.
  5. The PDFs EndNote finds will be automatically downloaded and attached to the appropriate reference.
