3D modeling is a method of computer-aided design, or CAD, used to create digital models of objects that will either be 3D printed (using a 3D printer) or will be included in a digital environment, such as a game, digital gallery space, or other digital environment.
If you would like to create a 3D model that you'd like to print, you can either get trained to use Area 49's 3D printers or send your file to get printed.
If you have a physical item you would like to scan to become a 3D model, look into the options in our Photogrammetry Lab.
For a list of 3D modeling examples and repositories, take a look at the sub-page, 3D Modeling Examples.
This section is for programs we have not tested, and cannot verify the easy or difficulty of use. We still think they have great potential.
