Area 49

This guide provides information on how to use technology within Area 49, as well as guides for digital technologies and physical projects. Area 49 is available for use by all current students, faculty, and staff.

Singing up for an account

  1. Go to thinglink.com
  2. Click “Log In” in the top right corner.
  3. Click “Not registered? Sign up for free.”
  4. Create an account, and choose the education plan.
  5. Choose "Teacher."

Creating with ThingLink

  1. Once you are on your account’s landing page, click the blue “Create” button to begin.
  2. Choose “Upload Image,” and select the image you would like to use.
  3. Title your image.
  4. Click the image where you would like to tag it. An icon will appear.
  5. You will have options for including a link or image address, including text, changing the layout, giving the button a title, and uploading images or audio. Edit these until the button’s content is complete.
  6. Once you are finished, or as you need to save, click the “Save” button. This will take you to the live version of your ThingLink. Note that visibility options are only available for paid accounts. Your project will be visible to anyone.
  7. New ThingLink Sharing Process:
  • Click on “My Media,” and it will bring you to this screen with all your projects. Click on the project you would like to share.

  • After selecting your project, you will see this screen, where you can click the pencil to edit your work. Instead of clicking “edit,” click “Share.”

  • Choose "Embed" if you will be embedding your work into another website. Choose "Link" if you simply need to share the URL.
