While other pages in this guide will show you the basics of how to use the technology in Area 49, this page provides resources from workshops and classes. Often, workshops and classes will extend past the basics, and will provide users with new ways to approach technologies, or even methods for making specific types of items. If you have taken a workshop or if you were in a class in Area 49 that used a LibGuide, check for your resources here!
If you are interested in attending a workshop or a training, please register on our Technology Instruction page.
If you have ideas for workshops or would like to bring your class to Area 49, please email atkinsarea49@charlotte.edu.
We also have an opportunity available for you to develop a workshop, event, lecture, or other program related to creativity, innovation, and emerging technologies. If you are interested, take a look at the information on the Area 49 Programming Series page.
Check out our Area 49 Resources Guide, which includes information about programs to create nontraditional projects, as well as many examples!
Click through the gallery to see how to make your own glitter relaxation jar!
Pour hot water into the jar. Leave enough space in the jar for glitter and glue. For small jars, fill only halfway.
Add glue. For small jars, add at least half the bottle. For larger jars, add the full bottle.
Stir the glue into the water until combined.
Add the loose glitter and stir until well combined.
When stirring, the glitter will clump together. Continue stirring until all pieces are loose and float freely within the jar.
Add water to fill the rest of the jar.
More space at the top of the jar will mean more bubbles with the jar is shaken. You won't be able to get rid of all of the air, since the lid will sit on top, but to eliminate as many bubbles as possible, put the jar in a bowl or in the sink and fill it until water begins to spill over the top.
Place a line of super glue around the edges of the lid or the jar. Screw the lid on tight. Allow the glue to dry according to the directions of the brand you have used.
