Area 49

This guide provides information on how to use technology within Area 49, as well as guides for digital technologies and physical projects. Area 49 is available for use by all current students, faculty, and staff.

Gaming

Area 49 has a number of options for gaming.

  • The Visualization Lab houses a Valve Index virtual reality headset. The room requires a training. Contact atkinsarea49@charlotte.edu to set it up.
  • The Gaming Lab houses a number of gaming consoles and a gaming PC. It is open whenever the library is open, and you can bring your own games and controllers to use with our consoles at any time.
  • The Area 49 Desk is where you can check out games, controllers, headsets, and select consoles, including virtual reality headsets.
  • The Diversity In Gaming Collection includes games with diverse representation, accessible controllers, and resources for inclusive game design.

Take a look at the sub-pages under this Gaming page for information and tutorials for using some of the gaming equipment and accessories!
