Steps

There are several online tutorials you can follow, here are the ones we recommend. Remember, all masks should have two or more layers of washable, breathable fabric.

Sewn Mask 1: Adjustable ear pieces, no filter pocket, no adjustable nose piece

Instructions from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

No-Sew Mask 1: Non-adjustable ear pieces, no filter pocket, no adjustable nose piece

Instructions from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and video below or on YouTube.

No-Sew Mask 2: Adjustable ear pieces, no filter pocket, adjustable nose piece

We recommend with this tutorial to add at least one more layer of fabric to your mask, to follow CDC recommendations and keep you safe.

Hints & Tips

  • Getting it to fit right: sometimes the measurements the tutorials give you might make masks that are too big or small for you. Try measuring a mask you have already that fits or measuring your face.

  • Add a pipe cleaner into the top edge of your mask to better secure it around your nose bridge!

  • If you want to add a filter for extra safety, make a pocket in your mask, as seen in this tutorial.
