Hand Sewing

There are many different stitches you can use when hand sewing an item. This page contains video tutorials for several options that can be used for different projects.

Running Stitch

Fast, easy, can be visible or invisible. If you want your stitch to blend in, pick a thread color that is close to the color of your fabric.

Back Stitch

Can be visible or invisible, similar but sturdier than a running stick. Pick a thread that is close to the color of your fabric so it blends in.

Ladder Stitch

Invisible, good for closing a hole so the rough edges of your fabric won't show. Pick a thread that is close to the color of your fabric so it blends in.

Whip Stitch

Visible, fast, and easy. If you want your stitch to blend in, pick a thread color that is close to the color of your fabric.
